Privacy Policy
What this site collects, and what it does with it.

Who we are
This is the privacy policy for The Virus Informer, at https://thevirusinformer.com. The site is a news digest. You can read everything on it without creating an account.
What we collect
Contact form. If you send us a message through the contact page, we receive the name, email address and message you enter. The message is emailed to us and saved on this website so that we can reply.
Send a link by email. Some articles have a box that emails you a link to that article. The address you enter is used once, to send that message. It is not saved on this website or added to any mailing list, though the sending is recorded in our mail server’s logs like any other email. To prevent misuse, the site keeps a count of recent requests in scrambled form for up to a day.
Spam protection. The contact form and the send-a-link box use Cloudflare Turnstile to block automated abuse. When the check loads, Cloudflare receives technical details such as your IP address and browser information.
Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting server records technical details of each request, such as the IP address, browser type and the page requested. We use these records for security and troubleshooting.
Comments and accounts. Comments are closed and visitors cannot register, so we do not collect comment or account data.
Cookies
The cookie banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies, and the site stores a cookie to remember that choice. We do not currently use analytics or advertising trackers. If that changes, we will update this page.
Links to other websites
Every story links to the original article on its publisher’s website. Those websites have their own privacy policies, and we have no control over what they collect once you follow a link.
AI-assisted summaries
Story summaries are written with the help of an AI service, using the text of publicly available articles. No information about our visitors is sent to that service.
Who we share your data with
We do not sell or rent personal data. We would only disclose it if the law required us to.
How long we keep your data
We keep contact form messages for as long as we need them to deal with your request. Server logs are kept for a limited period for security purposes.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of any personal data we hold about you, or ask us to delete it. To do either, send a message through the contact page.
